Message
from Scripture: 11/05/2020
Our message from Scripture today is 1 Pet.
1:12; “It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but
you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who
preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into
which angels long to look.”
Our salvation in Christ is an amazing thing to
consider, from so many different perspectives. Peter tells us the Old Testament
prophets were given information as God saw fit, but in a series of revelation,
not all at one time. They searched to find out all they could about the coming
Christ, of His suffering and the glory that would follow. They concluded it was
not for their time, but when the fulness of time came for Christ to be revealed
in the flesh, that which would be known fully by us.
We know it fully through the preaching of those
inspired by God, and by the inspired Scriptures which were given by the Holy
Spirit (2 Pet. 1:21). The message is good news, as what was planned from
eternity has been accomplished, our salvation in Christ. It is a matter that
should be of great interest to us, as we all are in need of forgiveness.
But not only this, it is something the angels
of heaven long to examine as well. The phrase “long to look” means to stoop, to
bend down, thus to carefully examine. Even angels long to know how God has and
is working all things out for us (Eph. 3:10).
May we never take for granted what God offers
us in Christ. It is the grandest event ever provided for us. How special we are
to the Father and Son and Spirit. Rejoice in who we are in Christ, and what they
are working out for us. God bless.
Robert
