 Message from Scripture: 4/5/2021

Today’s message from Scripture comes from Rom. 7:24. “What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?”
It is encouraging that even the apostle Paul understood what sin does to a person. Sin is lawlessness (1 John 3:4), a violation of God’s good will for us. God created us in His image, but Satan seeks to destroy that. God’s will for us reflects His nature, and offers us an abundant life (John 10:10). Satan’s designs are, simply put, to destroy us, both physically and spiritually. The wages of sin is death (Rom. 6:23). Every day we live, and as the body goes through the process of dying, we have it driven home to us how evil the devil is. The process of dying physically vividly illustrates to us what is happening spiritually if sin reigns in us, an eternal second death that brings eternal punishment.
God loves us enough He sent His Son to die for our sins, that we might be redeemed and have a right relationship with God in Christ, that leads to eternal life. Our challenge throughout our lives is to turn from being wretched to blessed, to have no condemnation because our lives are now in Christ (Rom. 8:1). Satan hates for us to be set free by the truth of the gospel, and doubles down, so to speak, to reclaim us for condemnation. He makes right look wrong, and does everything he can to make sin such an integral part of life, that we become convinced it’s acceptable and okay with God. We must not listen to its lies. The world doesn’t love us, and the devil doesn’t care about us, but God does. The death of Christ loudly tells us we can be forgiven, and that there is a better way to live.
Satan is using every tool he can to deceive us and destroy us. God is offering us every spiritual blessing in Christ to save us. Who do you choose to believe and live for? We are rescued in Christ. Stay safe by staying in Him and His good will for you. God bless.
Robert
