Message from Scripture: 10/01/2020
Our message from Scripture today is Eccl. 12:1. “Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near when you will say, ‘I have no delight in them.’”
How many people, looking back on their lives, would want to do it again to make better decisions and correct many of the problems they had in life? In his later years, Solomon seems to look at where his life was and reflect on how he had lived, and that, many times, one could not change one’s past, which brought no delight. Since it’s obvious we can’t undo what has been done, the best thing to do is seek to do better in the here and now. What are some things we can do to make for a better life in Christ, no matter what stage of life we’re in?
Each day allows us to spend more time in Scripture. The more time we study God’s word is more time allowing God to speak to us. We learn more about our salvation, about finding answers to life, about being strengthened in the hope He offers us.
Each day allows us to spend more time listening to others. We receive input from a variety of sources that factor in to any decision we make. Why not listen to advice that has God’s will as its focus, from others who share our spiritual values, who have our best interests at heart? “Listen to counsel and accept discipline, that you may be wise the rest of your days” (Prov. 19:20).
Each day allows us to spend more time living for Christ. When you are young, it seems like life in the flesh is infinite, but the more we mature the more we understand about the brevity of life. The spiritual should permeate everything we do in life. “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Phil. 1:21).
While we have the time, whether young, middle-aged, or older in life, let’s make use of the time we have, that the conclusion of our days here will lead to entrance in eternal life. Make today a great day in Christ. God bless.
Robert
