Message from Scripture: 12/03/2021

 

Our message from Scripture today is Rom. 6:19: “For just as you offered the parts of yourselves as slaves to impurity, and to greater and greater lawlessness, so now offer them as slaves to righteousness, which results in sanctification.”

 

It is part of the human experience, once influenced by sin, to want to determine for oneself what is right and best. Sin always leads one on a slippery slope into more sin, and the negative consequences that accompany it. In reality, it is a death spiral, deeper and further into sin, which leads to death (Rom. 6:23). Unless the process is arrested, as was the case by these Christian’s renouncement of sinful practices and turning to the righteousness of God, it only gets worse, never better. The very nature of sin leads to more sin, worse sin, and the devastation that follows in its wake.

 

Without the influence of God’s divine will, there is no real authority for right or wrong, except in the changing conditions of society, which is no real authority at all. We can experience God’s blessings to those who live by His parameters, or we can substitute the whims of the flesh which constantly change and bring negative consequences to life. Are we willing to take a slippery slope which can ultimately consume us?

 

What a better way God offers us in Christ! It’s the only way that leads to life, whether it’s the best way to live today, or the only way to live that provides joy for eternity. The emptiness so many feel, that they try to fill with worldly expressions, is the spiritual longing to be fed and nurtured. God’s word leads us to what alone provides what we need in life: a real relationship with Him.

 

In a world filled with confusion and error, let’s serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by letting Him be seen alive in us. Be kind, merciful, and holy as you go about your day today. Offer hope to those who so desperately need it. God bless.
