Message from Scripture: 10/18/2021
Our
message from Scripture today comes from Prov. 21:2; “Every man's way is right in his own
eyes, But the LORD weighs the
hearts.”
The story is told of a woman who went from home to home across the countryside selling thread, buttons, and shoestrings. When she came to an unmarked crossroad, she would toss a stick into the air and go in the direction the stick pointed when it landed. One day, however, she was seen tossing the stick up several times. “Why do you toss the stick more than once?” someone asked. “Because,” she said, “it keeps pointing to the left, and I want to take the road on the right.” She kept throwing the stick into the air until it pointed the way she wanted to go.
One of the greatest
challenges we will ever face is to let go of ourselves and let God mold us in
His image. Sin deceives and hardens our hearts (Heb. 3:13), but the Lord knows
us and what is truly at work within us. It is a constant battle within us
against Satan and sin, and only God and His will can direct us in the right path.
As Jesus told His disciples, “If you know these things, you are blessed if
you do them” (John 13:17).
Today,
let’s go out to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, humbling ourselves
before Him, allowing Him to direct our paths, finding the life that is truly
right in the eyes of God. This is where we will find His richest blessings.
